The Open Jar
Fifty New Zealanders. Every answer published.
We're testing in public. Fifty people across New Zealand use sootheKA for 28 days and tell us what they think, including what they don't like. We publish their answers alongside our independent patch-test report, and say what we're changing because of them.
How it works
- If you're selected, you get one full-size jar of your choice: Barrier Balance or Barrier Resilience.
- You use it for 28 days, alongside your usual sunscreen.
- Three short check-ins, on day 0, day 14 and day 28, about five minutes each: how it layers under your sunscreen, how it feels, what you think of the fragrance, and whether you'd buy it.
- We publish the panel's answers together, negatives included. Nobody is named.
We're looking for people across the country, not just Auckland, including drier and colder places like Central Otago and Canterbury. We'll choose the panel once our stock has cleared independent testing and arrived in New Zealand.
What we ask, and what we don't
- Honest answers. We don't pay panelists, we don't script anything, and we don't ask to approve what you post.
- The jar is free, and under New Zealand advertising rules free product counts as advertising. So if you post about it anywhere public, label the post #AD.
Who should skip it
Both formulas contain a light fragrance. If you've reacted to fragranced products before, or have eczema or very reactive skin, this panel isn't for you. See our FAQ.
What the results will and won't mean
The panel tells us what fifty people thought of the product. That's useful, and it isn't a clinical result. We'll report each answer as a count with the question we asked, never as a finding about what the product does to skin. For what we know about the formulas, read the science page.

Tell us a little about your skin and what you use now. We use this only to choose the panel and contact you about it.
